Ways To Cure Insomnia

Almost everyone alive has suffered from at least one sleepless night. Tossing, turning and feeling like rest will never come, insomnia is not easy to live with even for a night. When the condition becomes chronic, ways to cure insomnia will not doubt be needed. Allowing the condition to persist over time can lead to other concerns very quickly.

The road to finding the best way to truly cure insomnia for a person will likely be a very individualized route. Since this condition has a number of different causes that range from stress and anxiety to depression and medication use, it is often by isolating those problems that the real way to cure insomnia is found. Other things such as change of working habits, aging, pain and even some medical conditions can be the cause. Isolating the cause often leads to the cure.

There are three major ways to cure insomnia. The path to finding the cure can take a little time, which is something that people suffering likely won't want to hear. The methods are:

· Self-help. Often the best way to cure insomnia is to figure out what is causing it in the first place. If it is stress at work, addressing the issue will often result in relief. If that doesn't cure insomnia, psychological assistance could be the ticket to cure insomnia. Also, if the cause is pain from another physical condition, seeking help for that can often cure insomnia.

· Behavioral. If the cause is deemed to be a change in conditions, such as switching from working days to working nights, there are other measures that can be taken. Behavioral therapy, for example, can cure insomnia by helping a person learn new ways to change their internal time clocks.

· Medications. Sleeping medications serve as the way to cure insomnia for many. These, however, really are not or should not be seen as a long-term way to cure insomnia. They can, however, help immensely while a person is seeking out the root cause for the condition. Once that is addressed, the cure for insomnia is generally found. Take care when using some of these medications as they can become addictive in some cases.

Finding the right way to cure insomnia will often hinge on determining the cause. This can be very easy in some cases and rather tricky in others. It is very important when insomnia persists over time to seek out a cause and cure.

When a person manages to cure insomnia, the entire outlook on life tends to change. While many people can go without sleep, or at least much of it, for days on end, many others cannot. The effects can impact every aspect of life.

Alcoholism Early Warning Signs: How To Recognize Them And What To Do

No one ever sets out to become an alcoholic. It is an insidious problem, that sneaks in the back door when you're not looking. What some people consider "normal" drinking is actually the early stages of alcoholism. Much of what you might find as socially acceptable drinking is actually in the range of addictive behavior. Understanding the early warning signs can help you to prevent the advance of this devastating problem in yourself and/or your loved ones.

The early stages and warning signs of alcoholism are:
1. Your drinking has become a concern to you. You find yourself worrying about it and wondering if it's a bigger problem than you think. You probably don't dwell on these thoughts, but they crop up from time to time.

2. Your drinking is a concern to one or more people who know you. You are aware that others have noticed your drinking patterns, and they may or may not have said something to you about it. (This would include encounters with law enforcement officials related to alcohol consumption).

3. When you drink, there is a mood change. You find yourself feeling different emotions after drinking. You may get happier, or you may become depressed, irritable or even aggressive when you have had a few drinks.

4. You experience a change in your behavior when you've been drinking. There are things you do while intoxicated that you otherwise don't do.

5. You drink to excess (beyond legal limits) on a regular or repetitive basis. While this may only happen occasionally, it is still an early warning sign because of the fact that it continues to occur--even sporadically, as in the case of "binge drinking."

As you can see from this list, there are a lot of people who meet one or more of these criteria, who do not consider themselves to be alcoholic. Again, the alcoholic does not see the disease coming until it is in full force. For example, when your marriage is falling apart, you've been arrested twice, and you can't imagine going through a day without a drink, there is no question that you're an alcoholic. (Amazingly, some people will deny the problem even under these extreme circumstances). The beauty of knowing the above warning signs is that you can be proactive and preventive, before it's too late.

What you can do if you meet these criteria:

1. Go to an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting. Just go. Be aware that the addict in you won't like this at all. You may have an addiction, but there is more to you than that. Don't let your inner addict run the show. AA is the single most effective way to get into and stay in recovery from alcoholism.

2. Visit with a counselor or addictions specialist. Getting professional assistance will sometimes help you to put things in perspective and see what lies ahead if you keep drinking.

3. You might try just not drinking. That doesn't work for most people if they are very far along in the progression of their addiction. A few people have successfully quit on their own, however, and you may be one of these.

4. Some people have successfully shifted from excessive drinking to moderation, although this is also quite rare. You will know if you have successfully made the transition from excessive to moderate drinking when none of the above "early warning signs" apply to you any more, and that continues for a few years.

5. If none of the above work for you, or if you think you need something more intensive, you may want to check out some of the treatment centers such as The Meadows or Sierra Tucson.

Some things to be aware of:

-If the early warning signs apply to you, and you don't take any of the above actions, you are deciding to let your disease progress. Alcoholism is a progressive disease. You cannot stay at the same level, unless your drinking is healthy (meaning none of the above warning signs apply to you). Even if your job and your relationships don't suffer, excessive alcohol use can be detrimental to your health.

-There is a difference between being "dry" and being sober, in other words a difference between not drinking and being in recovery from alcoholism. AA has a term "dry drunk," that applies to someone who has quit drinking and is not in recovery. What this means is that the person is alcohol free, but is still behaving in all of the same ways as they did when they were drinking. Joining AA is the best way to insure that you are in full recovery. Another option would be to stop drinking or shift to moderation, and get counseling to address the issues underlying your addictive patterns.

-Alcoholism (or any addiction) basically arrests emotional growth and development from the point of beginning the addictive pattern. Therefore, counseling is quite often needed for someone in recovery, so that they can take care of the emotional issues that were masked and suppressed by the alcoholism.

-You have an addict inside you, meaning you have cognitive, emotional and behavioral patterns that support your addiction. If you can claim responsibility for that addict, give it a face and recognize that it only wants one thing--to drink, you can manage your addictive behavior much more effectively. If you don't claim your addict, it is all too easy for your inner addict to claim you.

You have every reason to be optimistic. Millions of people all over the world are in full recovery from alcoholism and leading healthy, fulfilling, successful lives. You can do this too!

Stop Your Acne Now - You Can Do it

Living with acne can be very difficult, and even more difficult to find the right acne treatment for you. You can do it -- look better, feel better, and raise your self-esteem 150% by getting rid of your acne for good. By their mid-teens, nearly 35% of teenagers have acne severe enough to require some treatment from a medical professional.

Acne is the most common skin disease. Acne rosacea is a red rash predominantly on the face. The most common types of pimples are whiteheads, blackheads, papules, pustules, nodules and cysts. For most people, acne goes away by age 30, but people in their forties and fifties still get acne. Numerous studies have revealed that acne is not simply a problem of the young: it also afflicts people of many ages, and it affects daily life.

Check your shampoo to make sure it isn't causing pimples or other breakouts on your forehead. Doctors think certain factors might cause or contribute to acne including hormone increases in teenage years, hormone changes in pregnancy, starting or stopping birth control pills, heredity, medicines and greasy make-up.

Acne, zits, pimples, blackheads, whiteheads and many other skin disorders are usually, but not always, the result of a bad diet. It's not true that dirty skin and stress cause acne.

Stay out of the sun if you're taking any acne medicines. It's always best to seek non-invasive treatment for any skin condition. A new treatment using red light and blue light has been extremely successful on severe acne. One good natural method is to apply a thin layer of coconut oil and massage it deep into the skin to heal and soothe it. Coconut oil is one of the best treatments I've found for acne.

You want to be good to your skin and never pop or squeeze a pimple no matter how tempting. Try not to touch your skin to eliminate possible contamination.

Acne is not a serious health threat but, it can cause scars. Acne scars can give the skin an aging look. The good news is that there are several types of treatments to choose from for acne scar removal.

Whether you eat a natural diet with living fruits and vegetables or eat dead junk food, what you eat may have a direct or indirect affect on the male hormones which may play a part in acne. Some alternative doctors recommend eating raw cloves of garlic daily for acne.

In any case, no matter what skin or acne treatment you choose, whether it is chemical, drugs, alternative, or natural methods, changing your diet will result in your overall good health! Essential fatty acids are particularly important to people with inflammatory conditions such as eczema and acne.

Drink freshly juiced carrot juice every day. Drink plenty of water, a minimum of a quart a day. For an easy fiber boost, mix in 2 tablespoons of ground up flaxseeds in raw applesauce, from 2-3 apples, made in your food processor.

Many skin conditions can be converted into healthy skin using natural home remedies. The skin is subject to constant attack from without, so can be affected by numerous conditions, diseases and ailments.

In any case, try not to panic about your acne and take it day by day. Pick two or three home remedies or natural treatments and try them out on your skin carefully. When it comes to acne, acne prevention is always a better choice than searching for a cure.
